November Congratulations
- Dan Reichert, an FM electrician, is retiring on Nov. 30, 2019, after 10 years of service with UNC Charlotte.
- Jody Thompson, food services program manager in Auxiliary Services, was recently selected as a recipient of the CCL Leadership Development Program scholarship. Administered by the internationally respected Center for Creative Leadership,the Leadership Development Program is designed for leaders of managers and other senior professionals. The intense and challenging five-day course is built around six vital competencies for effective managers: influence, communication, thinking and acting systemically, self-awareness, resiliency and learning agility.
- Douglas Lape, director of PaTS; Nancy Smith, assistant director of PaTS; and Amy Hisler, associate controller for accounting and disbursements, have been selected to participate in the upcoming cohort for the The Leadership Experience. This program prepares next-generation leaders to guide UNC Charlotte to meet strategic goals by solving real problems that impact the campus and community.
- Don Gariepy, critical facilities manager, recently accepted the Lamp of Knowledge Award from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) on behalf of ASHRAE’s Southern Piedmont Chapter. Gariepy, who serves as vice president of the chapter and chair of the student activities committee, and others were honored for their outreach with students in local K-12 schools to engage them in the heating, refrigerating and air conditioning professions. Paul Taylor, zone maintenance manager, Kenyel Spaulding, Zone 3 supervisor, and Joe Loder, Zone 6 supervisor, are also members of ASHRAE’s Southern Piedmont Chapter.
- Sarah Lynch, resident district manager for Chartwells Dining services, recently received the Chartwells Difference Maker of the Year award. Recipients of this award are high-performing leaders who are known to go above and beyond their daily duties and do so humbly. These individuals act as influencers and inspire their team and their colleagues to be their very best.
