October Congratulations
- One-Year Anniversary Event For New Employees- The Office of Learning and Organizational Development sponsored an anniversary celebration on Monday, Sept. 23, to recognize employees’ one-year work anniversaries at UNC Charlotte. This was the second anniversary celebration of its kind since the campus employee onboarding processwas revamped. The latest event honored those who were hired between April and September 2018. Employees, including 17 from Business Affairs, gathered alongside their managers, colleagues, Cabinet members, human resources staff and Campus Connection hosts to enjoy food, raffle prizes and remarks from Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs Beth Hardin. The milestone event will occur every six months to celebrate the campus’s newest employees.
- Congratulations to the Facilities Management Grounds team for its 2019 Green Star Awards merit award from the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS). The annual awards program aims to bring national recognition to grounds maintained with a high degree of excellence. This year’s award was presented to UNC Charlotte in recognition of the grounds team’s work at East Quad, which is located near Cato Hall.
- Facilities Management staff members Larry Blomberg, Sherry Ceallaigh, David Daignault, Shawn Kelly, Brian Kugler, Carolyn Lewis, Yolanda Lewis, Ashley Sisco, David E. Smith and Kenyel Spaulding completed the APPA Level III: Managerial Effectiveness training. This was part of a progression series of leadership training offered by APPA to build upon individual skills learned and interpersonal skills developed in the first two parts of the four-part series.
- In connection to the Facilities Management Apprenticeship Program, Krista Collins, David Elledge, Josh Hyatt, Carl LaChance, Joe Loder, David E. Smith, Steve Tallent and Paul Taylor participated in an Expert OJT® workshop that taught participants to build a complete, structured on-the-job training program.
