How long have you been a member of Niner Nation?
I’ve been part of Niner Nation for nine years.
Describe your typical workday.
Typically, I start the day by opening the office and then checking emails and voicemails to see if any adjustments have to be made for coverage in the event a team member will not be in for the workday. I also check if there are any work orders or work-related issues that might need immediate attention. I supervise a team of seven employees — preparing and making sure that they have the supplies and work tools they need to perform their duties in an efficient way. I am responsible for assigning task areas to ensure all is covered, and being a point of contact in case of an emergency or if any additional assistance is needed. When needed, I will step in and help with the cleaning in some areas, such as helping with the High Performance Team Cleaning Process, including doing laundry and restocking supplies in closets.
What is the most challenging part of your job? Most rewarding?
Recently, I transitioned to a new role in which I have to complete paperwork daily. This has been challenging as it’s a new process and I have been learning new things every day. The most rewarding part of the job is getting the opportunity to work with a very diverse group of people and seeing how much can be accomplished when you work as a team.
What has been a memorable experience for you as an employee?
I’ve enjoyed seeing team members from different areas of the campus coming together to enjoy events like the Christmas celebration or picnics and activities that have been done in the Facilities Management and BES departments.
What is your favorite place on campus?
Atkins Library. There are many different things to see. I also like to take walks through the campus, Greenway and the Botanical Gardens.
What is the best piece of advice you ever received?
A friend sent me an inspirational quote that said: “You are more ready than you think. Step up and step out to receive the life you want. Staying safe is not serving you. You have the power to change your thoughts, responses and actions to create all that you desire. Don’t wait for life to happen to you. Make room and allow it to happen for you.”
What is something fun you like to do in your free time?
I like to spend time in my garden, visit the mountains and enjoy a good cup of coffee.
