Five tips for employees returning to campus
More employees are slowly beginning to resume on-campus work. Here are five quick things to know about returning to campus.
-
Telework if you can — The University is taking a steady, phased approach to returning to on-campus work. If you can still telework, you should. Only those employees who are needed for on-site functions or who cannot telework should begin transitioning back to campus. For more, review the returning to campus information on the Emergency Management website.
-
Have a face covering — Employees returning to campus should wear a face covering whenever they are around others to help mitigate the risk of transmission of the coronavirus. The Centers for Disease Control offers guidance for how to make and care for cloth face coverings. Before classes resume in fall, all faculty, staff and students will also receive UNC Charlotte face masks.
-
Administrative leave has been modified — Administrative leave is still available, but it was modified starting Monday, June 1. If you haven’t reviewed AVC of Human Resources Gary Stinnett’s May 28 letter on the changes, please do so to make sure you are informed about your resources.
-
Please stay home if you’re sick — Even when you begin to return to campus, you should always stay home if you don’t feel well. There are lots of leave options available to you. Through Dec. 31, 2020, all employees may use accrued compensatory time, sick leave, vacation leave and bonus leave interchangeably. However, you must use comp time first if you have it.

You can eat on campus — If you are working on campus, there are modified dining options available to you — both take out and socially distanced seating options in Crown Commons. Learn more on the Auxiliary Services website.
