IT Assessment brings new support to Risk Management, Safety and Security
Chris Kicinski joined Technical Operations and Planning (TOP) on Monday, Jan. 23, as a business and technology application analyst assigned exclusively to Risk Management, Safety and Security (RMSS). She will report directly to David Tobelman, director of TOP, with a dotted line to Hank James, associate vice chancellor for RMSS.
The need for additional IT support in RMSS was among the first recommendations that came from the division’s IT Assessment (ITA) project.
Kicinski was most recently a project manager in Information Technology Services at UNC Charlotte.
In her new role, Kicinski will be responsible for supporting the IT functions in RMSS, including the mobile command center, personnel administrators, dispatch, the emergency operations center and others. Additionally, she will provide hardware and software support for desktop and laptop workstations and maintain the RMSS IT hardware inventory.
IT employees in Human Resources and Financial Systems Support have also transitioned successfully to TOP as part of the assessment recommendations, according to Tobelman.
“It is still early in the process, but everything has been very smooth so far from my perspective,” he said. “I don’t anticipate a lot dramatic changes. Everyone will continue with their normal duties, while we work toward more and better communication between units.”
The next steps in the ITA project surround the efforts to complete a catalog of services offered in Business Affairs. More information about this phase will be communicated in the weeks ahead.
